Last Reviews
I’m leaving a 5 star review based on what the place is and what we were expecting. We’re currently at the Lone Star Rally for the weekend. We waited until the last minute, I looked everywhere for basically a room to store our stuff and lay our heads at night. There was nothing even close to the area for under $200 a night and that was if something was even available. My husband remembers staying here a few years back and said it’s not what you’re used to but it will work. Well, it’s not anything close to what I’m accustomed to and it’s not the Taj Mahal by any means. The owner was the sweetest lady ever, the room is old and in need of repairs and renovation, but it’s clean, actually pretty spacious, the bed is comfortable, the A/C is cold, tv is new and there is Dish Network. There are no bugs that I have encountered (I hate bugs of any kind!!) and there is no fridge or microwave. We just ordered Uber Eats and enjoyed our meal. You can’t beat the location, we walked to the vendors on the Seawall and Pleasure Pier is about a half a block away. Overall, for the price and convenience, I would not hesitate to stay again. I understand that it wouldn’t be everyone’s dream vacation stay, but if you’re looking for a decent, cheap place to stay and can overlook a few inconveniences, it’s worth 5 stars given what it is. Plus, I like to support local small business, so if it helps the owner with making some improvements, then that’s just a plus.
The room and the whole experience exided my expectations especially after I reading those bad reviews. This more than 50 year old motel named after the street it's located on has his history and dignity. Definitely it saw better times but it's still good. Our room on the second floor was nice with comfortable beds and the sea view. We had a good night sleep. We had hot water. Everything was clear and maintained with care. There were in fact two rooms. The entry room with the kitchenette, the fridge, the microwave was a plus. The giant plus were the screens on the windows in the bedroom, which most of the hotels now don't have now. We used the natural air instead of the conditioner. We had a unique experience. Thank you!
